Why these tools are different

Most image tools upload your file to a server. These don't — every operation runs inside your browser tab. That has practical consequences:

  • Privacy by architecture: your photo, its filename and its metadata are never transmitted. The privacy page documents exactly how this works.
  • No artificial limits: no signup, no email, no watermarks, no daily caps, no wait timers — nothing between you and the file you came for.
  • Exactness with honesty: image codecs can't produce a mathematically exact byte count. When you set a limit you get the best quality that respects it — plus a real report of what was achieved, including when a target is impossible at full size.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your browser decodes the file, applies the change and re-encodes the result locally. The only network traffic a visit creates is the page itself plus anonymous, cookieless page statistics — your image, its filename and its metadata never leave your device.

Which image formats can I use?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and GIF (first frame) work in every modern browser. HEIC/HEIF can be read where the browser itself can decode it — Safari does, most desktop browsers do not. Output formats available for conversion are stated before you run the tool, based on what your browser can encode.

Is there a file size limit?

Files up to about 50 MB are the sweet spot. The hard safety limits are 200 MB and 100 megapixels, chosen to protect your browser tab: files beyond them are rejected with a clear message instead of crashing.

Can a tool make a file exactly 50 KB?

No honest tool can hit an exact byte count, because image encoders quantize their output. The compressor maximizes quality subject to your limit, so you get the best-looking image that is at or under 50 KB, plus a report of exactly what it achieved — and a clear message when a target is impossible at full size.

Do the tools work offline?
